Hot food distribution in Westminster area and Tower Bridge point
The British charity EastHands and the British Bangla Welfare Trust distributed food to people standing in long queues to pay their respects to the late Queen as her cortege went by.
At midnight on September 17, tea, coffee, croissants, muffins, cakes, apples, bananas and water were distributed to hundreds of people at Tower Bridge Point. It may be noted that after the death of Queen Elizabeth II, she lay in state at Westminster Hall for four days for the general public to pay their respects. People came from different parts of the world to express their condolences. They paid their last respects to the Queen by waiting for up to 24 hours in queues about 8 kilometers long. Chairman of British Bangla Welfare Trust Khosruzzaman Khosru said, ‘We have jointly initiated a little project to relieve the fatigue of people waiting for 24 hours. Our activities will continue at various points till September 19.’ ASM Masum, a volunteer of Easthands, said, “We are overwhelmed by people’s love for the Queen and the country. So we have worked together to bring relief to people who are tired of waiting in long queues.’
